Tuesday’s Tear Sheet: Northern Lights
It is Tuesday, right?
Well since it’s Tuesday and I wanted to start a new series of posts, I figured a spin on tear sheets would be a great way to share what I’ve been working on design-wise and introduce y’all to new bloggers I’ve come across. I’d like to really keep up this new series and when I don’t have anything of my own to share, I hope to share the work of others. Speaking of series, Friday Blogger Follow is returning, so please drop by this Friday to learn of some of the new bloggers I’ve been following and be sure to connect with them! You KNOW I’ve always got wicked peeps for you.
Back to Tuesday Tearsheets
For those who aren’t familiar with Tear Sheets, in the imaging industry, a tear sheet is a promotion piece used by creatives to prove to clients that they’ve been published. For photographers and other creatives, it’s a printed piece, usually a reproduction of the magazine ad that their work was published for.
So today I’d like to introduce you to MJ of Northern Lights.
MJ shares that she is “a multfaceted southern belle who thinks about way too much and loves food, fashion, God and Fun. oh and the occassional sartorial obsession mixed with a lot of humor. My musings, as some may call it, all serve to brighten and encourage.”
MJ was recently a WordPress.com user. After reading my post on Why You Need To Leave That Free Blog Behind, she made the leap and went to self hosting. Below is a screenshot of her old blog theme.

We put our brains together and decided MJ needed something a bit wider, still minimalist style, but with a cooler, more creative header.
MJ’s new theme redesigned by me:

Pretty Bloody Cool isn’t it?
MJ knew what she wanted and picked out one of my pre-made wordpress blog themes and asked me to customize it.
Head on over to Northern Lights and check out MJ’s cool posts and the new design in action. Be sure to leave her a comment too!
Thanks for joining me for Tuesday Tear Sheet. You’re support and encouragement is always appreciated!

I love meeting new bloggers! This is a cool concept.

Hi Vanita,
Wanted to stop by your blog and check it out after you sent me that message on Twitter. See, it does help to connect with others and glad Jason gave me a shout. But you know, I am a Mom to my 4 legged daughter although you definitely have me beat by miles young lady.
I love the mention of bloggers you come across. I have met so many wonderful people online through blogging and I honestly don’t know what I’d do without having this experience now. I keep learning so many wonderful things through them all and the connections are the best.
You did a beautiful job with MJ’s theme. I’m sure she’s very pleased with the final outcome. You seem like a very talented young lady and I love people who can create such masterpieces. I’m always in awe.
Just wanted to stop by today and say Hi and hope you enjoyed Easter weekend with your family. So here is to a great week ahead.

Adrienne, Thank you for the compliments and kind words. you are still definitely a mom. taking care of pups is just as hard as taking care of a 3yo. my girlfriend had 3 dogs, and Adrienne, I would not trade chores for a weekend in Rio.
Thanks for stopping by. Sorry for the late reply. Been making the most out of my teens being off from school.
