Who Else Wants to Tweet from an RSS Feed?

tweet from rssTweet from an RSS Feed

Do I have to say it again?

Ok.

My name’s Vanita and I LOOOOVE Twitter.

Sick isn’t it? Man, there’s gotta be some kinda help out there for me. Twitter Tweep Therapy anyone?

Now, considering I’m a bit bonkers, it would truly help my fragile state of mind if the awesome bloggers I read (you know who you are), the few who I’ve invited into my inbox and the few hundred that populate my feed reader, would do a twitter obsessed sistah a solid and add a tweet option in your rss feed.

Seriously, I’ve found that with all the time constraints, I mostly read blogs from my Android. My favorites go to my inbox, when I’m done with those, I head over to gReader. Now, I CAN’T be the only blogger with blogs they wanna read AND a busy schedule.

Eighty percent of the time, there’s no way for me to tweet the most awesome posts ever. So frankly, it’s got to be one extremely kick as  post for me to go through the steps to manually tweet it from my Android.

What do you get in return for this favor? More ways for readers to share your posts!

Other than me paying you, which I won’t, it can’t get better than that.

tweetmeme is a great option and the instructions for coding is here.

I happen to favor the FeedBurner Twit This! link cause it’s easy to install, hasn’t treated me buggy as tweetmeme did and it’s consistent with the other sharing options available in my feed.

Got FeedBurner?

If you’ve burned your rss feed with FeedBurner, then you’re good to go.
Takes two minutes to set up Twit this!
Just head on down to the 2.5 minute video tutorial I’ve made for YOU.

If you haven’t burned your feed, ya’ damn well should, so I’m gonna help you out.

Head over to http://feedburner.google.com. The screens are self explanatory, but if you’re having trouble here are the steps in quickie form.

  1. Sign in using your Google account info. This should be whatever Google account you associate with your blog.
  2. Burn a feed right this instant. Type your blog or feed address here: It’s simpler to add your blog address. Click Next.
  3. Feed Title: Add a Feed Name. I suggest matching your blog name.
  4. Feed Address: Enter the Name of your Blog. Click Next. A screen will appear with your feed address.
  5. Copy the address.
  6. If you have a Blogspot blog, head over to Dashboard > Settings > Other and in the Post Feed Redirect URL box, add your new feed address. Save
  7. If you’re on WordPress.org, install FD Feedburner Plugin. In you’re sidebar it’s listed as FeedBurner Configuration. Paste your new feeds address into the Redirect my feeds here box.
  8. Update your Social Media Icons and external sites that are grabbing your feed, with the feed address.

Now, on the the movie . . .
