Here’s Angel’s take on Social Media and how it’s helping her with her cause.

Reaching out through Social Media

If you’d asked me as little as six months ago what an Alexa score was, I would have been clueless. I thought Klout was what a person needed to get into political office or an exclusive club. Not only was I ignorant about the importance of these stats, I just flat out didn’t care. What an idiot I was. These are tools that show me how effective my online presence is. What do I need most to reach the masses? Effectiveness and influence.

I want as many people as possible to know about Fight4yourlife. There are so many who need help. People going to the sight to donate money is just one goal. People need to see me; not just because I’m me, but because I have something to offer the world. People are hurting and frustrated. They are tired of struggling because of their obesity and battles with food addiction. They’re burdened with all of the pain these issues cause in their lives. I AM them. I’m also proof that things can be different.

I couldn’t dream of reaching the people I’m looking for and who are looking for me without effective use of social media. I can’t imagine life without the people who’ve poured into, supported, encouraged, and inspired me via social media. It’s a two-way street laden with many adventures and advantages.

When I figured out how to post my blog’s links on FB and Twitter, I realized that I could reach into people’s daily experiences and meet them exactly where they are. When people started to respond and the lines of communication were wide open, I was hooked. I knew this was the way. I haven’t looked back and Vanita is mentoring me all the way.

Sharing my blog using social media allows me to give myself away; to pour out my heart for the benefit of others.

Angel, I think your journey and your message come with backbone. Because you know what it’s like to be in those shoes, people with similar issues will listen and pay attention to you. Just like a former drug addict or recovered alcoholic is going to have more credibility with someone fighting their addiction, your message will be get through.

I’m so glad that comes across, Matty! My desire is to share of my own experiences with a LOT of people. Even if everyone doesn’t receive something they can use from my efforts, effective use of social media will surely help me touch the lives of many.

That’s so true! Social media does have its magic and at spots, its flaws as well..Using it in the right way for the best purpose is the key for good social networking..Nice, informative post!

So true! Social media makes you a bit vulnerable because you put yourself out there, but the positive aspects far outweigh the negative. The “magic” you refer to is worth it! Thanks for checking out the post and for your input.
