The Media’s Calling Hurricane Sandy A She-Witch

And I gotta wonder, if she’s a witch, wouldn’t she be a she?

I know, I know…Trivial in the face of this:

  • Hazards: damaging winds of long duration.
  • Winds: east 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 75 mph, becoming southeast this evening.
  • Timing: through Tuesday afternoon. Strongest winds are expected this afternoon and evening.
  • Impacts: a significant threat to life and property exists. Damaging winds are expected. Winds will be capable of Downing trees and snapping off large tree branches. Power outages could be widespread and last at least several days. Debris will block some roads. Most poorly anchored mobile homes will be damaged. Other homes may have damage to shingles, siding, gutters and windows, especially if these items are not properly secured. Loose outdoor items will become airborne, causing additional damage and possible injury. Windows in High rise buildings could be broken by flying debris.

But honestly, news anchors?

They’re funny.

One on abc7news keeps dropping a line about “the ocean in motion”.

Yes I’m nitpicking.

Why?

Because when it’s 7am and still dark outside and the tree a block away looks like all it needs is a strong gust to snap off and come flying [a block over] through your window, ya gotta find something else to do other than panic over not having enough toilet paper.

And how can I see the tree through my boarded up third floor window?

Because we did what our neighbors did, nothing.

No boarding up anything.

According to my landlady all I need worry about it the one window that leaks when there’s a lot of rain.

I hope she’s right.

Cause once a window breaks, we’re all heading to the basement. Invitation or not.

In other news, I’m working on launching the other blog while the power is out. I figure I can play monopoly and write at least 5 blog posts and call it a productive day.

Also?

I closed up class signup for this week.

Don’t want to leave anyone hanging, you know?

Still got some work to do to get this blog back in shape, so I’ll catch y’all later.
