Hurricane Sandy Be Gone

This breaks my heart. And yes, I know there’s a lot more about this hurricane that should be breaking my heart at the moment. But this saddens me. On a personal level. It’s where hubby proposed to me April 2, 2006. We had went away to Atlantic City for a night. My first time out of NYC in 20 years. Also my last time out of NYC.
This will definitely be my last Sandy post. We were left well and safe and intact and I thank God for that. The worst we had was last night between 6pm and 10pm when the house was actually swaying (we’re on the top floor of a 3 story house). I would not be surprised to look out the window to find the siding gone, but I’m pretty sure it’s still intact otherwise it would be colder in here.
Yes, old frame house. Very thin. We get a draft from leaving the closet door open.
I saw flashes of light outside my window. I thought it was lightening. Realized it was coming from the pole on the corner with the power lines.
But we’re okay.
We came out really lucky.
Really really lucky.
I spent most of last night worrying about the people in Jersey that I love.
It was good to see their posts on Facebook this morning.
Eh, Facebook has it’s uses.
Today is oldest teen’s 16th birthday.
I’m hoping to head out later and find a cake or ingredients to make one.
My heart goes out to those we’ve lost and my heart is grateful for those who made it.
Thank you to all who thought of me and for the good vibes and prayers that helped keep us safe.
