Ever feel like you’ve forgotten how to blog?
Blogs, Podcast and Pins…oh my!
I definitely feel like I have.
I mean, over at http://vanitacyril.com I do share the inside scoop on how life is going, but I haven’t been doing that here on my baby.
How did this come to pass?
check out my very first podcast!
Are you done making fun of me?
Great!
I gotta tell you, it was super easy to make and a great break from being as graphics obsessed as I’ve been lately between putting up the WordPress Blog Themes shop and playing on Pinterest and working on a few infographics.
So how do I get back in the groove?
I have not one bloody clue.
Man blogging is hard…
Someone please share a clue
Oh! before I forget, since I’ve mentioned pinterest, my new love, (every fuggin thing beats facebook i tell ya’) I’ve bought my ticket to the Pinterest webinar for next Thursday and I suggest you check it out too.
The blogger holding the webinar was able to gain 40k followers in 5 weeks and I want to know how!
Here’s my affiliate link. Pinterest Webinar. Seriously. You know me, I would never suggest you invest in something I haven’t invested in myself!
UPDATE! Use Promo Code: Irish for 25% off the ticket price until 3/18!
I’ve been using Pinterest for a few weeks and have actually made a few sales. I barely have any followers, yet I’m getting traffic to my blog from Pinterest like crazy. Now imagine if I had 40k followers?
Also…I recently read a hubspot ebook about Pinterest and they mentioned something very interesting.
According to this ebook, Pinterest has teamed up with another business that follows pins to the sites they’re linked to and checks out that site for an affiliate program. If one exists, they have a way of grabbing a piece of the pie themselves. Not much details in the ebook. I’m hoping the webinar host knows more since I have an affiliates program here on the blog.
Notice I have no Pin button up? Gotta go figure that out tonight!
Special thanks to Jack at TheJackB for giving me a bit of inspiration and a bit of a push to try both Pinterest and Podcasts.

Hey babe, go into your sexy bookmarks plugin. There is a pinit option. Just click the radio button and it will add it to your share the knowledge section.
When I start having problems coming up with blog posts I get pen and paper out and try to write old school. Or I grab plr.

thanks Val. i could use plr for an outline for a how-to, but in this case, it’s more about just sharing. i saw the pin option in sexy bookmarks, it just screws with my columns when i load it so i’ve got to go hack my theme or something.

omg woman, I know exACTly what you’re talking about re: blogging. Goodness, I’ve been blogging since ’99 when one just had fun & interacted with everyone… when everyone commented… oh ya, like FB!
Sometimes I feel like an old lady “when I was your age we used to ___” and talking about how FB & Twitter took over, and now blogs are so specialized. blahblahblah. I do miss it, but I also don’t feel like picking it back up. Like so many things, I think that if I got into it again, it would be a habit again, and so on.
*sigh*

Hi Kitty, thanks for stopping by. I did notice it’s been a while since you’ve blogged, maybe vlogging would work?
and it’s really not a bad habit to have as long as you’re enjoying the habit

hello? is this really Chrissy? i’m sorry, is this my best girl? what kind of auto robo comment is this?
Vanita recently posted..Ever feel like you’ve forgotten how to blog?
Hi Vanita,
IMO that was perfect. Fun, easy and a nice change of pace. I haven’t ever used a script because I like to let it flow off the cuff the way that you did. You were natural and it sounded like we were having a regular conversation.
Audioboo is simple enough to use. FWIW, I have also used Google Voice but it doesn’t autopost the way that AudioBoo does.
Anyhoo, good to have a voice to go with your writing. Hope you have a great weekend!

it’s not so much figuring it out…i’ve been planning on putting my social media icons in the header, but haven’t gotten to it yet. i also got to figure the whole pinterest/affiliate thing. thanks for stopping by hun!
I know exactly what you’re saying – Pinterest is an absolute brilliant source of traffic. With no doubt it will close up, so we’ve got to get the most of it. Thank you for taking your time to compose and publish this write-up, and congratulations on the sales you’ve made from Pinterest.

Pinterest is the next devil…I can feel it. Kidding. It is a time sucker though but it can drive up your blog traffic. Once someone had pinned a picture of mine and wham…my traffic soared for the day.

i kinda worry about having the images in my posts pinned. since they’re stock images i’m wondering if i’m violating some law. got to look into it deeper. when i find time…lol
Congrats on the sales you’ve made through Pinterest1 That’s so awesome! I adore Pinterest and didn’t think I would. It has, hands down, helped me with so many aspects of my real life that it’s insane.

Jessica honey it’s too much fun and i love the stuff you’ve been pinning.
And yep… You sound good! Well I know how it feels, and I’m not a shy person I’m told. Pinterest. Hmmm. I’ll admit that I have a Pinterest account to and piddling around with it for a while I wanted to learn how this could help me with my blogging.
There’s so many pictures, and that’s sometimes just what we need to ‘get inspired’. At first I made a bloard with all the posts of my blog, hoping for some more exposure, but that didn’t help.
I find Pinterest interesting to use as a scrapbook (hey, does that sound familiar?) where I can store, pictures (ideas) and fav websites.
To pin I use a plugin on my Chrome browser.
About the copyright thing: I would not panic over that. As for all sites the originating site gets the exposure, because the link it came from is part of the pin. I still believe, that whatever policy Pinterest holds, the law comes first.

Jan! I’ve missed you big guy! I’m still thinking on how to really use pinterest for my blog but at the same time it is fun. totally kicks FB ass for me. LOL. i’m looking forward to that webinar on thursday. had planned on working on creating an infograph or two or maybe something artsy fartsy but at the moment, i’m dying here from the flu and i just don’t care. lol. worst thing is, i’m on a somewhat vegetarian fast and i can’t have chicken soup.
Your voice makes me feel like I’m home! I sound a lot like you when I’m not trying to sound like I’m not from NY. Which I fail at, apparently. I think you did a great job.

girl, how could you not want to sound like you’re from NY? come home darlin, come home…lol
Vanita recently posted..Ever feel like you’ve forgotten how to blog?
Oh no! Don’t get me wrong. I can “NY Girl” with the best of them and do… but sometimes I try to tone it down (in certain situations) and I think that it’s undetectable.. I have been informed however, that I am wrong.
I am not often around people that sound like I do, however and it was very comforting. lol
