Blog Moving Miseries
Within the past two weeks, my unix-guru tech friend Darin and I have moved 7 blogs from hostgator and that slick reseller’s hosting to Bluehost. Without. A. Hitch.
Of course this blog’s move from godaddy has to be the streak breaker.
Blah.
This blog with it’s 10 subdomains for the free themes demos is 2GB large.
Godaddy doesn’t like you downloading something that big.
Also? Darin found a virus hanging out in my blog’s directory.
Don’t want to take baggage with me to he new server, so we deleted all.
I’m thinking these came along sometime during that time godaddy was hacked down for a day.
So some time tonight ABB will be switched over to it’s new home and you may find nothing more than posts and pics and comments.
Once my 41 plugins are reloaded, and my sidebar widgets installed, it should look right again.
Yes 41.
Don’t judge me.
Having the cdn lets me do lots of shit. lol.
Since I’m not changing the domain name, I can’t just ready the new site and then switch the dns, cause i won’t be able to login to wordpress until i point the domain name to the new hosting. isn’t life beautiful?
so forgive me while my house is messy.

Moving blogs is one thing, doing it the right way is another. I know, I’m still kinda hindered by the ambilical cord of Blogger… Uggh. It’s time for something drastic. I have to cutthe cord – or to be more seasonal – BITE it.

I feel your pain having just gone through a theme change. My server moving experience was even more painful the last time around though! Ugh. Brings back nightmares to think about it!

Just curious why Blue Host over Hostgator?
I am currently with hostgator and haven’t had any problems. I am launching a 2nd site in the next 2 months so would love to hear your feedback.

hostgator was good. bluehost allows for dedicated IPs. when you’re on a shared server, the other sites on that server can after your search engine ranking. this is why i wanted the option to offer dedicated IPs. as for those on the shared server, they are sharing the same server as my business blog vanitacyril.com so i’m very exclusive about who i sell hosting to. if you check out the page you’ll see i have rules listed. lol. it’s why the page gets visitors but no takers. lol

When I get really busy and my house gets messy I almost get this little good feeling because I am looking forward to the good feeling I will get once I clean it – weird?! YES!!!
