Blasted Blogger Comment Captchas
Is it just me or are these Blogger Commenting Captchas getting harder to read? I really wanted to leave a comment on a blog this morning, had to reload the Captcha 4 times before i got something I can read.
Dear peeps on Blogger, I love your blog, I want to comment, but your captcha and the fact that disqus can be buggy, throws me off.
If you’re planning on staying on Blogger forever, then check out:
http://comluv.com/download/commentluv-blogger/
It’s free.
It will encourage more comments too!
It’s available via Intense debate and here are some great instructions with a video on how to install:
http://www.giglogo.com/2011/05/03/how-to-get-commentluv-on-blogger/
If you’re planning on moving to WordPress someday, I suggest using Intense debate by itself so you can export your comments and import back into WordPress.
there are two plugins available for this:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/intensedebate-importer/
and
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/intensedebate-xml-importer-blogger-to-wordpress/installation/
Don’t make it hard for your blogging friends to interact with you.
We all have to prioritize our time. And though I personally read your great posts, 9/10 times I don’t comment because of the bloody captcha and i’m sure there are others who feel the same way. Also, if your sharing buttons are hard to find or a pain in the ass to use, then you’ll never know I was there.
Speaking of comments…I’m thinking of starting a commenting group again. Who wants in?
The way the last one worked, we subscribe to each other’s feed via email and when a post is up we comment and share, at the most, once per day, if a post is up that day.
Social proof, you’ve gotta love it.
If interested, email me or DM me on twitter and let me know. Do not DM me and tell me to follow you on FB, I’ll throw a bloody fit.

I can’t stand CAPTCHA! Argh! It makes it very difficult to comment. Disqus isn’t quite that bad but still not the best. I like IntenseDebate but recently it has been buggy for blogger imports. I hope they get that fixed. I used to use it on my wordpress and ppl complained. It also doesn’t work with some wordpress themes, so I found out the hard way. Great post!

Brenda! Thanks for stopping by! I can’t stand the bloody captcha and i love a lot of blogger blogs. it’s a shame. i always recommend commentluv to wordpress users, i don’t even push the paid version that i have because the free version does so much!

You’re right! CommentLuv is awesome! I think it gets more readers than any of the blogging networks. When I see a link, I just have to click it!
that’s exactly how i feel!
i got one from someone you suggested following on Friday. i was terribly disappointed.
I’ve got two teens. 14 and almost 16.
and b+w is forgiving
When I first started blogging, I thought captchas were such a “clever” idea. Now, now, I hate them. I hate that sometimes they malfunction and delete my comment. I hate that sometimes they cutoff mid-word. I hate that they making commenting hard.

Jessica! how you doing chica? one thing i like about wordpress out of the box, offers askimet. no bloody captcha needed. the Blogger captchas really truly are bloody buggy and makes it so hard to comment on blogs.

Andrew thank you for stopping by. excellent blog you have there and enjoyed my visit. thank you for leaving a comment so i could find you!
I hate the captchas. They are a major pain.
more painful then playing with headway? lol. i’m so glad you’ve shared how well that’s going. i was considering signing up since i thought it would be profitable for certain clients. i think i’ll stick to my way. thanks for coming by Jack! sorry for the late reply. it’s been a crappy day!
I feel that every time I have to read one, I need to get my eyes checked.
Seriously.
And how many people get spam? Sure i get my fair share but that’s why I have askimet. Do they have that through blogger?
And while we are at it, if a blog has captcha I’m more than likely to skip over the commenting all together. Yup. I just admitted that.

i tend to skip too Kim. we can start a support group of bloggers afraid of captchas. lol
very well said… I am going to share this with my bloggy group. I really like that you offered up a solution! It is the best this is a problem, don’t like it, here is a solution type article I’ve read to date. ~thank you!

Thanks for stopping by! I headed over to your site, but honestly, it just wouldn’t scroll for me. sadly, there’s just too much that needs loading on the front page. A webmaster may be better help for you than an IT. Also, intense debate has support pages. Be sure to check those out. would love to come by and visit, read and comment!
Hello.
I hear you about the capture…it’s my nemesis! I say we get rid of it once and for all!
Thanks for sharing.

thanks for stopping by Andy. love your blog. the music scared the heck out of me because i didnt expect it lol the poetry is beautiful!
Comment Luv is great, but have you noticed an increase in spam after you installed it? I noticed you have a challenge question on your comment luv was that a paid add on?
Kenin Bassart recently posted..Fun Canadian Road Signs
Kenin, I have Commentluv Premium. there’s a whole anti spam system built in. the reason you see more spam is because people search for the term commentluv enabled site and similar to find blogs to leave a backlink. commentluv premium allows you to block people who found you this way from leaving a comment, and again there’s a spam system built in along with a reply system. it’s just a thing of beauty. if you’re having spam issues but not ready for the premium version, there’s a plugin called G A S P that works much better than akismet.
