So I was officially laid off yesterday. Yeah, I got axed. But it’s OK, everything happens for a reason. We’re going to be fine. I’ll be reviewing the job boards come Monday morning. I’m just going to chill this weekend. There’s quite a few places to look, so I figured I’d share a few of the lesser known in the event there were other out of work moms that were sick of Monster and Craigslist and their local paper.

Linkedin Job Boards
I’ve had a profile there for a while now and have about a 100 contacts to bug for leads.
A lot of people know about LinkedIn but did you know there are also quite a few recruiters that are members who are open to you contacting them. Be sure to join forums too, because you’ll find jobs listed in the forums that you won’t find on the general board, or at least I have.

Style Careers
Positions in the fashion industry. Accounting, advertising, marketing, planning, purchasing, photography, engineering, manufacturing and a host of others.

Creative Hotlist
Positions in the imaging industry.

Indeed.com
A search engine for jobs, allowing job seekers to find jobs posted on thousands of company career sites and job boards.

Career Journal
The WSJ’s career website.

Six Figure Jobs
It’s a premiere executive career community / job board that offers relevant online job search resources and content for $100k+ job seekers and recruiters. Probably out of my league, but hey, you never know.

True Careers
Job board for professionals with degrees.

Simply Hired
Another search engine for jobs, similar to Indeed.

So there’s my list. If you have any sites to suggest, please do. Good luck to those hunting too.

Update: Here’s a site recently suggested to me:

  1. On the same boat… Good Luck, Vanita!

  2. Hey Mumsy, Good luck to you too!

  3. So sorry you were laid off! That's really hard! I'll be praying that things come together for you soon! Hope you find something!

  4. Thanks Cameron. It's actually a relief to have been let go, even though I turned off my iPhone service :( . The sacrifices that must be made. Lucky for me I still have WiFi so our WWF game is still on!
